Why This Is The Only Meal Planning Cookbook You’ll Ever Need

So, I have an important question for you.  How many cookbooks currently grace your countertops and shelves?

I am currently down to 26, thanks to a recent purge.  After making the transformation from dessert queen to kale lover, let’s just say that Betty Crocker’s Bisquick to the Rescue felt a little out of place next to The Whole 30.

For those of you who are foodies or collectors like me, no worries.  I would never ask you to part with your beloved books.  I am sure I’d have as much luck with that as trying to wrestle away my dog’s favorite toy during a game of tug of war.

But if you’re buying cookbook after cookbook in search of the solution to your meal planning dilemmas, let me suggest this one very special cookbook: Yours!

Don’t panic.  I’m not asking you to start writing your own recipes from scratch.  I’m simply suggesting that you take some inspiration from one of my favorite chefs, Tyler Florence.  And yes, I heard that sigh of “yum” and I know you weren’t thinking about his food!

Your secret weapon to meal planning success

“Tyler’s Ultimate” will never be purged from my collection.  This cookbook has a special place in my heart and on my shelf because years ago it inspired me to follow Tyler’s example of drawing from “the best of the best” as I experimented with different recipes and tried to find my favorite version of each dish.

Now, as soon as a recipe makes the cut according to my individual tastes, needs, and clean eating requirements, it’s placed in my recipe book “Jackie’s Ultimate.”  Original, I know, but why not steal from the best?

Are you ready to become a cookbook author?

Just imagine how much simpler life would be if you had just one cookbook that you could turn to for recipes you love and, better yet, know how to prepare?

Your single time-saving cookbook is just a few simple steps away.

Here are 5 steps to creating your “Ultimate Cookbook.”

1.  Choose your format

Do you prefer digital files or something more tangible, like a binder or recipe box.  As much as I love surfing for recipes online, I prefer storing my “Ultimate Recipes”  in a binder.  It just makes me happy every time I pull it out and turn the pages.

2.  Gather your favorites

If you’re constantly moving from cookbook to cookbook, make a copy of your go-to recipes and place them in your binder or digital file.  Having one place for your favorites saves so much time.

3.  Stop pinning and start cooking

I love Pinterest, but let’s face it, those pins of delicious, healthy foods aren’t doing you any good sitting on your computer screen.  Choose one recipe that you’ve been meaning to try and give it shot.  If it meets your criteria such as paleo-friendly or ready in under 30 minutes and is, of course, yummy, then welcome it into the family.  As you’re surfing through your clippings and pins, trash those that don’t make the cut.  It will save time the next time you are seeking some inspiration.

4.  Make it your own

Often a recipe needs just a few modifications to make it “Ultimate Cookbook worthy.”  Perhaps you need so substitute spaghetti squash for spaghetti, use less adobo sauce for less heat, or eliminate the added sugars.  Don’t be afraid to shake it up.  Otherwise, you might miss out on your next favorite like I almost did.

Years ago, while searching for a mac and cheese recipe, I came across Tyler’s version.  Upon first glance of the photo, I almost passed right by because it was covered in green peas which would not make the Copeland men happy.  But Tyler’s unique topping of panko, bacon, thyme, and onions intrigued me, so I decided to give it a shot and simply omit the peas.

Now filed under “special occasion splurges,” this recipe is my-oh-my so splurge worthy!  It is now a family favorite and is always requested by my son, Will, when he’s home for a visit.

5.  Give it the honor it deserves

Place your new prized possession in a prominent place in your kitchen or on your devices so it’s a constant reminder that you do have the essential tool necessary to prepare healthy, delicious meals for yourself and those you love without a lot of time and effort.

You’re All Set!

By following these steps, you will have your very own “Ultimate Cookbook” in a matter of weeks.  So stop spending money searching for the “perfect” cookbook and start creating your own.

Not only will you save time in the kitchen, eat healthier, and support your healthy lifestyle goals, but you’ll also have some extra cash available for that new pair of shoes you’ve had your eye on!

Share below your favorite recipe inspiration.  I’m always looking for my next “Ultimate!”
